The Bee Ring is a single delicate bee in bronze carrying a turquoise cabochon. This ring is designed to be a 'midi', worn halfway down the finger; the bee taking flight. The bee is symbolic of fertility, community, prosperity, diligence and work ethic. Some cultures view bees as messengers of the Gods. Their honey has also been compared to ambrosia or nectar of the Gods, thus elevating bees to the status of royalty. The bee has also been associated with the Sun and the Goddess; the position of the queen bee that bears so many offspring illustrates this. Fertility is part of the bee’s symbolism and reminiscent of the Mother Goddess and her reproductive power. Bees represent the continuance of life on earth, as well as immortality. When they visit they are said to bring messages of miracles and have been depicted on tombs and found in cave paintings since Neolithic times. Consider the bee colony or hive. There are many workers that coexist in harmony and live as a unit.
Every stone-set LaceyDU piece carries a stone of significance. Turquoise is perhaps the oldest stone in man’s history, the talisman of kings, shamans, and warriors. It is a stone of protection, strong and opaque, yet soothing to the touch, healing to the eye, as if carved from an azure heaven and slipped to earth.
The name Turquoise is derived from the French, pierre turquoise, meaning “Turkish stone,” because the trade routes that brought Turquoise to Europe from the mines in central Asia went through Turkey, and Venetian merchants often purchased the stone in Turkish bazaars.
For thousands of years, Turquoise has spanned all cultures, prized as a symbol of wisdom, nobility and the power of immortality. Among the Ancient Egyptians, Persians and Chinese, Aztecs and Incas of South America, and Native North Americans, Turquoise was sacred in its adornment and for power, luck, and protection.
RING SIZES: Most of my handcrafted rings cannot be resized due to their sculpted nature. Each is a piece of art and to stretch the bands would result in misshapen pieces. Let the pieces speak to you and I'm sure it will fit a finger or two! I try and size each piece to accommodate you in this way. Many thanks:)
